Critical situations of the unmanned aerial vehicle occur extremely rarely. Especially, if the aerial vehicle is properly used, as required by the product technical specifications and national regulations. If the senseFly eBee drone is used as recommended (up to 3 km, or 1.9 miles, for the eBee), its radio link is rarely compromised.
However, if the radio link is lost for any reason, the vast majority of cases this is not a problem and does not by itself lead to collisions or other incidents. As the GPS signal reception remains unchanged and navigation stays intact, a drone can continue to follow its planned route. The autopilot makes sure that the flight is taken along the planned route, that the camera is activated and that the GPS/IMU data is recorded. Beside that eBee is equipped with a series of sensors, which autonomously activate safety procedures in case of problems (eg. discharged battery, excessive wind speed, reached the edge of the flight area, etc.). The flight function of the eBee will return it to the take-off location and land safely.
